The race for Jack Marriott looks to be getting intense with Celtic joining in the contest for the 30+ goal forward.

The Peterborough United striker quickly hit the ground running in League One after joining from Luton and we have been linked with the player for some time.

There’s plenty of other sides looking at him too, though, with the Sun reporting that Celtic are now keeping tabs on the £5m rated striker.

As well as that, though, Rangers have pulled out of the race as financially they cannot sanction it.

The Verdict

Marriott is a wanted man but I’ve got a feeling we won’t push to sign him that hard.

He’s a player with quality but we need to be going for more established names and I think £5m is too much of a risk to take – especially given what we’ve done in recent years.

Certainly, Abel Hernandez is one I’d rather us go for.
