Former player and now pundit Jamie O’Hara has tipped Leeds United to go one step further than 2018/19 under manager Marcelo Bielsa, and secure our promotion into the Premier League this season.
The Talksport pundit was speaking to their Final Word Podcast on Sunday Evening (6.40pm) and whilst he had significant praise for Bielsa, and the performance of Pablo Hernandez in our opening day victory over Bristol City, he felt that it would be us and relegated side Fulham that were battling for the top two spots over the coming months.
“They look great, I have tipped them to win the league. They look strong. They have a brilliant manager. Hernandez is a star player for them. I fancy them and Fulham. Then Fulham got beat. But I think Leeds are going to fly this season. I would like to see them back in the Premier League. Huge club. If you look there are some big teams in the Championship, Stoke, Nottingham Forest, and Cardiff – the only standout team in the Championship is Leeds.”
O’Hara was certainly saying all the right things from a Leeds perspective for me, talking up the size of the club and stating that we deserve to be back in the Premier League after our years of absence, so for us, it’s all eyes to what we do ahead of deadline day now when it comes to strengthening the group given our departures.
