Puncheon Above His Weight?

Barnet boss Paul Fairclough admits that it will be hard to keep hold of midfielder Jason Puncheon as Leeds are rumoured to be preparing a January bid.

With Leeds United looking to strengthen further, perhaps with some early signings in preparation for a return to the Championship, it remains to be seen whether a young ‘talent’ would be a ‘wise’ move for the clubs management.

Puncheon was Boxing Clever on Wednesday as his hat-trick sealed all 3 points for struggling Barnet over Dagenham & Redbridge, an incredible feat considering that the London club had played the entire second half with just 10 players on the field. Speaking after the game, the Barnet manager commented on the bittersweet performance of one of his top players:

‘We could have done without Jason getting a hat-trick in one respect with the window about to open. We don’t have to let players go but if we are being realistic then everyone has a price.

‘Jason’s got Premier League ability in terms of his technique; it’s the mental aspect of his game we are working with.

‘He’s only a young player and I’d like more time to work with him, but we won’t be able to hold him back if he keeps turning in performances like that.’

Is he truly the answer for the Leeds United midfield? Especially when you consider how long it took the clubs last signing from Barnet, Tresor Kandol, to finally find his feet at the club. Have you’re say now!
