Leeds United legend, and former Republic of Ireland right back, Gary Kelly, has made a massive claim about the club this weekend and fans will like it.
The now 45-year-old spent his entire professional career at Elland Road, making well over 500 appearances for us between 1991 and 2007 when he hung up his boots, and he certainly had his successes during his time with us, even if the end was heartbreaking.

With a resurgence under manager Marcelo Bielsa, Kelly recently gave an interview to our media team and he boldly claimed that we were now an even bigger club compared to during his time with us.
“I think the club has got even bigger since I left. Leeds should be in the Premier League. It was always a massive club, but now from the outside looking in now you actually realise how big the club is. I love the fan base and Iām still Leeds through and through.”
Is Kelly Right With His Comment?
Yes We Are Bigger
No, Not Until We're Challenging Again
Although he didn’t get a medal for our Division One win prior to the Premier League rebrand owing to his lack of game time that year, he became a key part of our European adventures in the seasons to come before our financial problems hit, so although the claim is bold, he’s not far wrong when you think of how the EFL rely on us in terms of the television deal and not least our attendances despite the darker days.

Gary is a gentleman. When I flew over for my first Leeds game, Gary was on the flight. He mixes with all the Irish Leeds fans likes he's one of them (he is), having a pint in The Old Peacock etc, but the difference is he played 500 times for the club. Legend.

Gary Kelly is the only player in Premier League history to start every game in a single season as a teenager.
