Promising news for Marcelo Bielsa as he receives unexpected injury boost

|

The international break usually presents fans and managers alike an anxious wait to see if every player returns fighting fit and without showing any signs of injuries.

For Pontus Jansson, though, the international break was a rare chance to relax and return to fitness, having been forced to withdraw from the Sweden squad that beat Romania 3-2 after suffering a knee injury in our last outing.

It was expected that our key centre-back would have to sit out three weeks with the blow – only actually accounting for one Championship fixture – however, the Yorkshire Evening Post are now reporting that he may not miss a single game after all.

That is because they are now claiming that Jansson could retain his place in the side that lost to Sheffield United, after making good progress over the break and is now fighting a race against time to prove he is fit to face Millwall.

Adam Forshaw is also close to making his return, and could also be involved in the squad at the weekend, following his eight-game lay off with a knee issue of his own.

Should the duo earn a place on the teamsheet – either in the starting XI or on the bench – it would leave the Whites’ injury list only holding one resident in Kemar Roofe – a massive change given our horrific luck this season when it comes to absentees.

Roofe’s knee ligament damage is not expected to keep him out for much longer, though, with the striker on course to feature in the last month of the campaign.
