Leeds United will be without a host of players for the trip to Preston North End on Tuesday evening.

Gaetano Berardi will miss the remainder of the season after being sent off for a third time this season in the weekend draw with Sunderland.

Berardi has been hit with a five-match suspension and Vurnon Anita is expected to replace him in defence.

Luke Ayling, Conor Shaughnessy, Liam Cooper, Matthew Pennington, Laurens De Bock, Eunan O’Kane, Adam Forshaw and Tyler Roberts are all missing through injury.

Paudie O’Connor is set to partner Pontus Jansson at the heart of the Leeds defence again after the youngster made an impressive debut at the weekend.

Kemar Roofe is pushing for a recall to the starting line-up after returning from injury with a substitute’s appearance at the weekend.

Preston manager Alex Neil could freshen up his squad after losing for a third straight game at the weekend to dent their hopes of reaching the play-offs this season.

Sean Maguire and Tom Clarke are pushing for a start after coming off the bench at half time in the defeat at Reading on Saturday.
