Robbie Blake says Preston boss Billy Davies inspired Leeds to the win at Deepdale in the play-offs.

Blake, with 11 goals for Leeds this term, feels United came good at the right time with their 2-0 semi-final second leg win at Preston to set up the clash with Watford.

He said the antics of Davies on the Elland Road sidelines following a 1-1 first leg draw served to fire up the Leeds players.

Blake: ‘A lot of people wrote us off coming into the play-offs, but I think we showed we are a good side with a lot of quality.

‘With Billy Davies celebrating the way he did, thinking his side had got through, we wanted to prove it wasn’t over.

‘It drove the players on and gave us an edge, but we don’t need any edge for Sunday. The game speaks for itself, although there will be plenty of nerves.’
