Assistant manager Gustavo Poyet has left Leeds United today to join the first team coaching squad at Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

Following the sacking of former manager Martin Jol, Spurs moved quickly to shock everyone with the signing of Juande Ramos, a man who they had courted despite having not removed Jol at the time.

The announcement of Ramos’ resignation from Sevilla (prompting possible legal action from the Spanish club) rumours surfaced that he was lining up none other than Leeds United assistant manager Gus Poyet to join him as a translator, sorry, coach.

Poyet had moved from Swindon to Leeds with Dennis Wise in 2006, however it appears now that his future lies elsewhere. A compensation package was agreed last night, and the former Chelsea player has now moved to White Hart Lane.
