Pontus Jansson could play a part in this weekend’s game at Derby County in what potentially is a big fitness boost for us as a club.

The Swede was at the World Cup, of course, but has had to work back to full-fitness in pre-season with him out of the side for the opening weekend last time out.

He’s getting close to a return, though, and may potentially feature against the Rams – depending on how things go.

Indeed, as per Bielsa – via the YEP – the Swede might just feature at Pride Park:

“He is improving every day.

“He is getting closer to his best fitness and condition. And he is a possibility to be a right central back or left central back.”

Certainly, this would be a more than welcome boost for the club with it otherwise set to be a partnership at the back of Liam Cooper and Gaetano Berardi.

They, of course, did well last weekend against the Potters but I did feel as though Gaetano was close to getting caught out a number of times and so having Pontus back sooner rather than later is no doubt a good thing.
