An appeal from West Yorkshire Police has been posted an appeal in order to attempt to apprehend a number of people wanted for questioning with regards the scenes that marred the final home game of the season against Ipswich Town.

The statement reads:

West Yorkshire Police have today (Thursday, June 7) asked for the public`s help in identifying 10 people they would like to speak to in connection with football disorder.

On Saturday, April 28, a pitch incursion occurred at Elland Road at the match between Leeds United and Ipswich Town. This led to the game been halted before the final whistle, although the match was later finished.

11 people have so far been charged with public order offences.

The investigation has continued into the incident and Police are today issuing a poster featuring 10 people they wish to speak to as part of the enquiry.

Detective Inspector Phill Wright from City and Holbeck said: “We are appealing to anyone who may know who they are to let us know. You will not be asked to give evidence, we simply want to know who they are.

“If you see yourself in the poster, please contact your nearest police station immediately.

“There is no place for disorder of any kind in West Yorkshire and anyone involved in this type of offence will be tracked down and brought to justice.”

As people from across the region attend the matches, West Yorkshire Police have made the photographs widely available. The pictures can be viewed at www.westyorkshire.police.uk/footballappeal or at www.leedsunited.com
