Vurnon Anita was one of the many players to leave the club during the summer window with his loan to Holland going through last week.

He’s joined Eredivisie side Willem II on loan and it remains to be seen how he does there and, with that in mind, whether they want to keep him.

Certainly, though, it looks like we don’t particularly want him and, at the same time, it would appear that he’s not overly keen on coming back.

As quoted by Dutch side Trouw, he has reflected on his time at the club so far pretty negatively.

He said:

“Do you know when I last played a match? In April, almost half a year ago.

“It is wonderful to be seriously involved in a match again. No matter how hopeless the gap was.”

“I want to play football again, I want to enjoy the game again, that’s what I’m doing this for. In England I was on a dead end, you do not want to stay with a club where the trainer does not see it in you. Willem II is working hard and wants to go higher.”

You can understand his feelings to be honest as his time here just was not how you’d want it to be.

I thought he’d be good for us but he struggled for form and fitness and I think it is probably best that he doesn’t play for us ever again.
