“Play Them On Saturday” “The Future’s Bright” – These Leeds Fans Love Latest Achievement

On Monday afternoon Leeds United’s Under 23 charges went into battle once again for head coach Carlos Corberan as we faced Birmingham City in the Professional Development League National final.

Having charged to the north title at the underage level with games to spare, neither side could find a breakthrough across the 90 minutes or in the Extra Time period, so the game naturally went to a dreaded penalty shoot out.

Leeds came out on top though and were ultimately crowed as the PDL Champions for 2018/19 with 4-2 win.

Goalkeeper Kamil Miazek will take the headlines as he saved two of their efforts.

Leeds penalty 1 – Bogusz missed
Birmingham penalty 1 – McCoy scored
Leeds penalty 2 – Struijk scored
Birmingham penalty 2 – Bajrami scored
Leeds pen 3 – Edmondson scored
Birmingham pen 3 – Redmond missed
Leeds pen 4 – Temenuzhkov scored
Birmingham pen 4 – Boyd-Munce missed
Leeds pen 5 – Clarke scored

Leeds: Miazek, Shackleton (Temenuzhkov 116), Struijk, Halme, Berardi (Oduor 69), McCalmont (Diaz 87), Gotts, Stevens, Bogusz, Clarke, Edmondson. Subs not used: Rae, Nicell.

Venue: Elland Road
Attendance: 7,818

Following the action on social media, Leeds United fans were rightly delighted with the achievements of our next generation this year.
