With Leeds United taking a 1-1 draw from our recent pre-season friendly against Southend United at Roots Hall, reactions to the game and the performance have been reasonably mixed on social fans.

With plenty of chances falling United’s way across the game, our League One opposition struck the first blow in the 20th minute as they took the lead from a corner, but Luke Ayling came to our rescue in the 34th minute of the first-half to save some blushes.

Pre-season continues to be about fitness more than anything else but Marcelo Bielsa had selected a more senior squad for this one, so only securing the draw on the day was a disappointment for plenty of fans.

Luke Ayling has certainly hit the ground running this summer though as the 26-year-old now has two goals to his name in recent matches and he’s quickly becoming a small ray of hope for some fans ahead of the coming 2018/19 Championship campaign.

He could’ve won it for us late on as he saw another effort cleared off the line.
