“Pirlo Is Leeds” “Can Prepare All They Want” – These Leeds Fans Unworried By Recent Press Reports

|

With Leeds United re-establishing our small advantage over Sheffield United in the race for the automatic Championship slots this season as we eye a return to the Premier League, given those who doubt we can make it and finish the job, we can probably get used to an uptick in transfer speculation about our key players.

With Leeds still waiting to implode like people expected in the second half of the campaign, the print edition of the Sun (14/4 – P61) did one of their normal guff pieces of rumour mill nonsense but did pick an easy candidate for potential Premier League aspirations – Kalvin Phillips.

His role under manager Marcelo Bielsa this season has certainly seen him kick on in his development and having been named in the Championship Team of the Season, it comes as no surprise that some Premier League sides would be keeping an eye on him.

The Sun suggested that Southampton were preparing a bid for the 23-year-old and should they not get relegated, and should we not go up, we would demand £20million for his services.

That seems low in my humble for a start given transfer fee growth, his development and age but otherwise the Sun do cover all their speculated bases they need to make this sound plausible.

Fans on the other hand, not quite convinced.
