Many Leeds fans have been reacting on Reddit lately, after one user shared unsubstantiated claims relating to the future of Fulham-linked ace Pontus Jansson.

It emerged on Monday that the Cottagers were interested in our 28-year-old centre-back, when the Daily Telegraph’s Matt Law reported that the Craven Cottage side are very keen to bolster their backline by bringing the Sweden international to South West London following their relegation from the top-flight.

Under Slavisa Jokanovic, Claudio Ranieri and current-boss Scott Parker, the returning Championship outfit conceded 81 goals in the Premier League last season – the most of any side.

Fulham may now target Jansson in a bid to steady the ship with proven second-tier talents, as the Arlov-born star featured in 39 of our Championship fixtures during the 2018/19 campaign, scoring three goals and helping to 13 clean sheets.

Marcelo Bielsa opted against including the 20-cap ace in either of our Play-Off fixtures, however, as he sat out the Semi-Final First-Leg win at Derby County, and was only named on the bench for the return leg.

According to one user on the Waccoe forum, Jansson has now been instructed by Whites chiefs to stay away from Thorp Arch until July 12, at which point the first-team will have left the club’s training facilities for our pre-season tour.

The unsubstantiated claim could suggest the club are planning on selling the 6 ft 3 defender, and hope that keeping him away from Thorp Arch will prevent his departure from having an impact on the players who will still represent United when the new campaign begins.

Those who represented their country on the international stage following the climax of the recent campaign – as Jansson did – were allowed an extra weeks holiday by the board to help their recovery from a gruelling inaugural season under Bielsa, but the players given the additional grace period were due back at Thorp Arch on July 1.

With the claim being unsubstantiated, it remains to be seen if Jansson’s Elland Road future is in doubt, but the speculation generated a lot of responses on the Leeds United Reddit page…
