Leeds United are fighting valiantly to secure promotion to the Premier League for the first time since their relegation in 2004, which could bring back the glory years to Elland Road.
The past 15 years have certainly been turbulent for the Yorkshire giants, who even spent time in the third tier of English football, but Marcelo Bielsa’s improvements to the squad have left plenty of optimism surrounding the side.
This week marked a famous anniversary for Leeds, as December 5th 2000 saw the Peacocks secure a famous victory in Rome against Italian giants Lazio – with academy graduate Alan Smith scoring the only goal of the game.
Leeds’ official Twitter account rolled back the years by sharing a clip of the effort on social media and fans wasted no time with their responses, with many fondly remembering a famous result for the Peacocks.
We have gathered some of their comments below.

That team had so much. Young, hungry, vibrant could of winning a PL if we had a decent manager. What a team that was.

I remember that goal as if it were yesterday. Still say Vidukes and Smudger are our best strike pair in recent times!
