Oldham Defeat Reaction

It was a comeback too steep even for a Leeds United side that knows how to rescue matches late on. 3 first half goals were enough to seal the points for Oldham, despite the Whites finishing with 4 strikers on the pitch.

A second defeat within a week has left Leeds League One push slightly dented and as the injuries stack up, Dennis Wise may be forced into an early foray into the January transfer market.

Following the match, Dave Bassett spoke to leedsunited.com:

‘The management are very disappointed and Dennis is very angry,’ said boss Bassett. ‘The players couldn’t complain. If you play like that you will lose more than you will win.

‘The goals we conceded were poor, our attacking play was poor and we had no creativity. We looked very static and mentally tired.’

‘We’re not knocking the players, but perhaps this is a wake-up call. We know the team needs freshening up, because some will suffer a burnout.’
