Following Swansea City disappointment as Leeds United went into the September international break, there was every reason for cheer last Sunday as we took a deserved 2-0 victory over Barnsley at Oakwell.
We had to wait a while for the goals to come despite creating plenty of chances, but inside of the final ten minutes of the tie, on loan Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah found the breakthrough and then he coaxed former Leeds United centre-half, Aapo Halme, into conceding the late penalty that Mats Klich made no mistake with.
Unfortunately, but such is football, plenty of fans were seemingly happy to focus on 26-year-old striker Patrick Bamford not finding the net for the second straight game – despite him getting a goal and an assist in the tie against Stoke City.
It was undoubtedly a more disappointing showing for him, but he was far from poor. He still got three on target from five efforts and was unlucky to not make the breakthrough himself (offside disallowed) and plenty recognised how he again led the line, caused problems and played his part in tiring out their defence, even though others capitalised on that.
Well played again.. great finish but dodgy offside decision from the linesman
The way you are physically taking it to the opposition is brilliant to see

Great work from you. Unlucky to have your goal ruled out too. Halme was moving at a snail's pace by the time you'd worn him down for Eddie to finish them off.

Well done Patrick, your work rate isn't going unnoticed. Your hassling of the centre halves and running of the channels has been brilliant for us so far this season, keep it up! ????????

I’m glad someone else noticed because the referee clearly ignored it ????

Work rate was great today.. made Aapo look silly, all he could do was pull your shirt and foul you! Keep it going Paddy!
