On Monday afternoon, Carlos Corberan’s Under 23 Leeds United squad continued their march on Premier League 2 promotion success with a solid 3-0 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road.

Goals on the day came from Izzy Brown, Pascal Struijk and Kun Temenuzhkov as we extended our lead at the top of the northern section of the table.

Highly rated youngster Ryan Edmondson took to Instagram following the game and he gave a blunt assessment of his own performance across the 90 minutes.

“Not good enough from me personally, but quality from the lads. Step closer towards the title.”

The U23 title has to be ours with only a handful of games left and the advantage we already hold in top spot, so given the role that Edmondson has played in our season, his criticism of himself seems harsh given the margin of victory.

It does help show the determination and standards being developed though that he’s so upfront on his own showing and I imagine fans will love the fact he’s searching for more from himself as he continues his development in the game.

With all the praise that has gone his way this season, everyone has an off day.
