Have you ever been to pub quizzes where you have an ‘eliminator round’?

So if you get a question wrong, then you score zero for that round, even if you got everything else right? I think that’s the situation that Leeds United found themselves in regarding Michael Cuisance, despite seemingly on course to sign for the club, he failed his medical and the move was called off.

However on deadline day, the midfielder found himself signing for French side Marseille, so obviously they were happy with his medical situation, whereas Leeds were presumably a bit more cautious.

Did Leeds have a good window?

No

No

Phil Hay wrote a piece on the situation for The Athletic, and taking to social media he defended Leeds’ decision to call the whole thing off, saying that it was a risk that simply wasn’t worth taking:

And to some extent I agree. I wrote earlier today about how the club had a fine transfer window, and it would be a shame if the whole thing were to be brought down by a simple mistake of letting a crocked player join the club, not playing well and ending up being a bust.

Let the other clubs take that sort of risk.

What about you? Do you think the club were right to call the deal off?
