No War With Bruce

Despite newspaper reports saying Robbie Blake had a war of words with Brum boss, Steve Bruce, the Leeds striker wans to put the record straight.

If Leeds did end their two-year exile, they would trade places with Blake’s former club Birmingham, who sold the 30-year-old last summer for £800,000 just six months after he had joined them from Burnley for £1.25million.

Blake: ‘What happened at Birmingham was disappointing because I didn’t do anything wrong. But the manager wanted to bring in new players, and to do that he had to bring in money. He felt he could get most of the money back he paid for me.

‘I’ve nothing against Steve Bruce. I actually feel sorry for him due to what happened at the club last season. I certainly didn’t want them to go down.

‘But circumstances conspired against him. They had a lot of injuries, but he is a good manager and with the quality at the club, I’m sure they’ll be back.’
