“No Smoke Without Fire” – 24 y/o Is Coy Amidst Claims Bielsa Has Personally Scouted Him

|

This is a new name on me, but apparently Leeds United have been actively keeping tabs on Ostersunds attacker Hosam Aiesh.

According to a report from Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen (via Inside Futbol) having had an impressive season, despite injuries interrupting his game time last term we have been keeping a close eye on him and they even claim that manager Marcelo Bielsa made a personal scouting trip earlier in the summer to cast his eye over him.

Speaking about his future, the 24-year-old right sided midfielder was clearly having some fun with the speculation as he cracked ‘there is no smoke without fire’ but he was quick to stress that he obviously has no idea as to which clubs may have scouted him previously as he simply wouldn’t know about it, however hard he tries to keep track of things.

He is undoubtedly aware of some interest though as Ostersunds have already turned down some offers, but it’s quite a clever interview for me.

“There is no smoke without fire. There are clubs that are correct, then there are clubs that I do not know if that is true. They can be interested and watch matches without me knowing about it. I actually keep track of who is sitting in the stands. But there is great interest and there have been many phone calls about my situation. It looks positive for a move, but if it does not happen now, I will continue to perform here at Ostersund and do as good as possible.”

He went on to insist that Ostersunds are ready to sell him so he just has to wait and see who meets their valuation and he’s happy to be patient, with him also rejecting an opportunity in the MLS himself.

Given our midfield options, I’m not so sure we’d actually be a bidder here even if we have had him watched previously, but we shall see.
