News: On loan Leeds man to be recalled by his parent club in January

|

An update from Alasdair Gold in Football.London has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur have a recall option in Jack Clarke’s loan deal and that Spurs are likely to activate it in January as they are concerned with the 18-year-old’s lack of game time.

Clarke has not featured for even a single minute in the Championship yet, and with Jack Harrison performing so well, it seems unlikely that Clarke will get a chance.

It could be argued that he should play instead of Helder Costa – who has struggled to provide end product this season.

However, Costa seems to be improving with each game and barring an injury crisis, both Costa and Harrison should continue to start.

This is frustrating for both Clarke and Spurs, but Marcelo Bielsa clearly prefers his other options to the 18-year-old.

Should Clarke be playing over Costa?

Yes, Costa isn't doing enough

No, Costa is getting better

Clarke burst onto the scene last year and made 22 league appearances and scored two goals.

His form convinced Spurs to splash out £9m on him, and then they loaned him back, expecting Clarke to play and feature prominently in a promotion push, but Bielsa has had other ideas, and Clarke has had to sit on the bench.

This update from Gold suggests that Clarke’s Leeds nightmare will soon be over, and Leeds can look at how to replace him.
