News: Leeds will not be signing £40,000 per week man

|

A report in Football Insider has claimed that Leeds have given up on signing Dwight Gayle as they look to move in a different direction with their future signings.

The Whites have been linked with Gayle for years, and many fans have wanted him for a while, but it seems that at 29 and with Premier League wages, he is not someone they want to take the risk on.

Although for a team that need a goalscorer to pretty much guarantee promotion, you would think that they would do all they could to bring in a striker, who in his past two seasons in the Championship has scored a stunning 46 goals.

One of the reasons Leeds will not be signing Gayle is because he apparently wants a permanent transfer, and that means Andrea Radrizzani would have to pay upwards of £10m to seal the deal for the 29-year-old.

Leeds have struggled to score goals, but their defence has been watertight, however, they have lost a lot of points from not scoring enough.

A player like Gayle who thrives in the Championship would be the perfect signing for Leeds, but if the finances are not right on the deal, then there is not much the Whites can do.

The report does not mention any alternatives to Gayle, but it is unlikely that they will be permanent transfers.
