News: Leeds intend to stick by former England Under-21 international rather than use 20-year-old

A report from Football Insider has emerged, which claims that Marcelo Bielsa is set to ignore Eddie Nketiah’s remarkable goalscoring form and stick with Patrick Bamford for Leeds’ centenary game with Birmingham City on Saturday.

Bamford has started every single Championship game this season and has four goals, but Leeds are fifth in the league because they can’t seem to score enough to kill teams off.

Nketiah has just bagged four over the international break and has also spoken of how he is frustrated with not starting – yet it looks like he will be on the bench again.

The report claims that Bielsa believes Bamford has a better all-round game and has the full faith of the Argentine.

Nketiah is in scintillating form this season with eight goals for both club and country, but he still cannot get a league start over a player who has not reached double figures for goals since 2017.

Arsenal are apparently considering recalling Nketiah if he continues not to start games and there will be plenty of interest in his services.

Leeds have a clinical finisher waiting to be unleashed, but if Bielsa waits too long, then that striker may well be taken off their hands because they haven’t used him enough.

I find it baffling that Leeds are struggling to score goals yet will not use a striker who would guarantee them goals if he were to start games.

It looks like, for now at least, Bamford will continue to start while Nketiah makes do with a spot on the bench.
