News: Ex-England man does not want to see 20-year-old wasted at Leeds

|

Darren Bent is the latest former player to wade into the Eddie Nketiah debate, and in a move that will not go down to well with many Leeds fans, he has called for the Arsenal man to leave Elland Road and go on loan somewhere else.

The former Spurs man, speaking on talkSPORT, claimed that he did not want to see Nketiah become like so many other strikers who perform for England’s Under-21s but then struggle in the Premier League.

Bent compared Nketiah to Saido Berahino, who was once rated so highly, but a lack of application saw him fade away, and he now plays for Zulte Waregem in Belgium.

I can see where Bent is coming from because Nketiah has scored eight goals in just eight games for Aidy Boothroyd’s side. Berahino managed ten goals in 11 games.

Bent thinks that the only reason Patrick Bamford is playing instead of Nketiah is because of Bamford’s work rate.

The ex-Aston Villa striker thinks that Arsenal want Nketiah to be starting games because they believe in him, but if he can’t do that at Leeds, then they will look to move him to another club.

Nketiah has dominated the news for Leeds this week, and he will likely continue to do so until Marcelo Bielsa decides to start him.

However, if reports are to be believed, then it will be Bamford who, once again, gets the nod over Nketiah.
