‘Never been so pumped’ – These Leeds fans react to images from Thorp Arch

The summer transfer market is well underway now, and Director of Football Victor Orta has been busy getting new players to sign on the dotted line, as he prepares to give Marcelo Bielsa the best Leeds squad possible ahead of another Championship season.

With promotion the mission once again, the old and new faces at Thorp Arch have not been able to take the first few weeks back lightly, and a video of Marcos Abad putting the goalkeeper’s through their paces has caught the eye of some Whites supporters.

Abad, who joined United as our Goalkeeping Coach in July 2017 following a brief stint with Middlesbrough, can be seen testing the shot-stoppers reflexes through a variety of methods, such as close-range parries and testing their reactions to goal-bound headers and collecting swinging crosses in a crowded penalty area.

The likes of Kiko Casilla and Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s passing range was also put to the test, with 33-year-old Abad tasking each ‘keeper with receiving possession in a confined segment of the box, before drilling the ball out to the wings to a heavily marked teammate standing close to the touchline.

One of the biggest gripes of former Real Madrid man Casilla’s first few months on the books at Elland Road was his decision making in one-on-one scenarios, and Abad has been testing each of our ‘keepers abilities to close down the attacker in these situations, as well as being the first man to a loose ball in the six-yard box.

Here’s how these Leeds fans reacted to Abad’s pre-season highlight reel…
