“Needs to up his game”: Lots of Leeds fans laugh at bizarre stat that came out after Hull win

|

I’m not quite sure how to read into this stat.

It’s either a great sign that you’re putting pressure on your opponents to force them into mistakes, a little bit of luck that the teams Leeds are playing are quite error-prone, or just a consequence of what happens when you dominate the league in terms of crosses into the box and shots on goal, that one or two of them are going to sneak in.

As a result of Jordy De Wijs’ own goal last night to give Leeds United the lead, Marcelo Bielsa’s men have now benefited from four own goals so far this season, and as @LUFC_Data pointed out ‘own goal’ became the White’s joint-third highest goalscorer of the season, trailing only Patrick Bamford and Eddie Nketiah for the title of leading scorer.

Probably delighted with the victory as well as the stat, United fans took to social media to laugh at the odd stat, with many of them making jokes about the situation. Although there were some who took it seriously and used it as an opportunity to praise the players for making it happen.

Is Bielsa laying the foundations for success?

Yes, we're taking the title this season

Yes, we're going up to the Premier League

No, we are still missing something

What about you? Do you think a stat like this comes through luck, or hard work?
