Leeds United bounced back from the defeat against West Brom prior to the international break by securing a 2-0 victory over Bristol City at Elland Road.
The win maintains the Peacocks’ position in third place in the Championship standings heading into the busy festive period – which could make or break for Marcelo Bielsa’s side and their promotion hopes this season.
It was not the most comfortable of wins though as it took until the 69th minute for Leeds to take the lead, utilising their advantage after the visitors saw Josh Brownhill sent off for two bookable offences, with Pablo Hernandez then easing the nerves in the last few minutes.
Hernandez’s goal came courtesy of a superb cross from Samuel Saiz, who came off the bench to impress in another cameo performance – which has left many fans on social media urging Bielsa to hand him a start in the coming games.
We have gathered some of the reactions to his performance below.
We looked so muchbetter offensively when Saiz came on #lufc

saiz needs to start. 2 assists in 2 games he’s had about 20 mins in. #lufc

Perhaps Saiz needed a few games out of the starting XI, but we all agree today should be the last, right? #lufc

Saiz must start from now on end of #lufc

Saiz has assisted 2 of our last 3 goals. Harsh to think he’s not starting. May not be 10/10 for 90 minutes, but he does what Forshaw simply can’t.

That ball from Samuel Saiz for Leeds yesterday to set up Pablo Hernandez's goal was just brilliant, just shows the class he has #lufc #mot

Yes I would. Teams like Reading and Bristol today, they don’t hav the ability to keep him quiet like better teams do. Would deffo start him on Tuesday.

Needed the break and needed to know he’s a squad player not a cert start. Good management by MB so I’ll leave it to him

He has to start instead of Forshaw we need that extra bit of unknown going forward. Dallas and Forshaw slowed the game down too much that first half.
