Money on Leeds Defeat

Walsall manager Richard Money admits that his side were unable to open up Leeds despite some healthy play and that striker Jermaine Beckford was the uncontrollable difference.

Beckford ended his goal drought as Leeds cantered to a 2-0 victory that the stats would suggest was a one sided game, however this wasn’t the case as Walsall had extended periods of play with the ball and created a number of good chances, regularly wasted.

Speaking to the official Walsall club website Money said:

“It was always going to be a tough ask for us, but we gave it our best shot,”

“There were periods where we played well but we just couldn’t open them up in the way that we wanted to.

“The top and bottom of it is that we couldn’t handle a very good player in Jermaine Beckford and he was the difference.”
