Kevin Blackwell confirmed he is looking strengthen his squad during the transfer window, and on-loan Manchester United midfielder Liam Miller looks almost certain to sign on a permanent basis.

The Leeds boss admitted his side were below-par during the opening period of their first meeting with Hull for almost 16 years. But they survived several scares to open the scoring on the stroke of half-time through Douglas’ neat finish. And the midfielder headed home his second shortly after the restart to effectively secure the points.

Blackwell added: ‘We started sloppily but in the end we won it quite comfortably and it could have been bigger.

‘But you always accept a 2-0 win and it would be nice to go down and get a win at Plymouth now.’
