Leeds United striker Ross McCormack admitted they were punished by Leicester City for not taking their chances.

McCormack was the guiltiest culprit for Leeds, missing two great chances. He hit the post with a header inside ten minutes before being denied by Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel when through on goal.

Tom Lees also missed a great chance when he headed over with Schmeichel beaten and Luke Varney and Jimmy Kebe went close as the home side responded well from the disappointing defeats at Rochdale and Sheffield Wednesday in the previous two weekends.

Leeds were made to pay for their misses when Leicester striker David Nugent scored with just two minutes remaining and McCormack was in philosophical mood at the final whistle. “It was a better performance but we have lost another three points,” McCormack told Sky Sports.

“We had plenty of chances and we have to take them at this level because if you don`t, teams like Leicester will punish you.

The defeat was a fifth in a row for Leeds who now have ten days before their next championship game with Ipswich Town.
