Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says it is unlikely that Ross McCormack will sign a new deal with the club.
Warnock has offered McCormack a new deal with the striker still having one year remain on his current deal but the Leeds boss says the players representatives have already made it clear that they want more money than what is on the table from Leeds.
Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post , Warnock said., “It`s unlikely he`ll sign.
“We`ve offered Ross an increase but his representatives made it clear that they`re looking for a more significant increase after the season he`s had.
“We`ve agreed to play it by ear and see where things go from here but he`s going into his last year and it might be that people come in for him now.”
McCormack signed for Leeds in the summer of 2010 from Cardiff City on a three-year deal. He had a frustrating first season, when he netted just twice in the final two games of the season.
He brought his end of season form into this season and he netted 19 times in all competitions.
The news will come as a blow to Warnock who is looking to build a squad that can push for promotion from the championship next season.
McCormack looks like being the second player to turn down the offer of a new deal from Leeds. Midfielder Adam Clayton has already been placed on the transfer list after failing to agree new terms with Leeds.
Warnock is still waiting on Aidy White and Robert Snodgrass who have been offered new deals at Elland Road.
White is a free agent this summer after coming to the end of his current deal whilst Snodgrass still has a year remaining on his current deal.
