McAllister on a big week ahead

Gary McAllister is looking forward to the ‘big week ahead’ of Leeds United.

Leeds face Nottingham Forest and then Doncaster, with both teams above them in the table, but nevertheless McAllister is relishing this challenge, as he told leedsunited.com: “We’re looking to improve every day. We’ve got to do it quick because we’ve only 15 games now, but this is a great week for the players, and if they can’t enjoy this week…

“We’ve got two teams above us and if we are going to claw them back then this is our chance.”

Having lost to Tranmere in his first match in charge McAllister was able to see his side gain a point against Northampton at the weekend, and although he saw this as an improvement he also saw it as two points dropped as he added: “I thought we were comfortable in stages of the game and if we’d have shown more composure we would have run out winners.

“It was two points lost, but I felt what we’d asked for in terms of tempo was a vast improvement to the Tranmere game.

“It was a fantastic goal from Jonny Howson – it was nice to see a midfielder in the box – and a great ball in from Bradley Johnson, but overall our composure and quality let us down at times.”
