With manager Marcelo Bielsa meeting the press this afternoon to preview the weekend’s Championship clash with Nottingham Forest, plenty of journalists were quick to announce on social media that often linked away key midfielder Kalvin Phillips was at Thorp Arch and in full training gear – the implication being, he was clearly wasn’t anywhere else given the speculation we’ve seen about his future.
The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth went one further and Tweeted out.
In other news, Kalvin Phillips' agent Kevin Sharp confirms he is staying at Leeds United and sitting down imminently after today with the owner and Victor Orta to discuss a new deal.#lufc

With the departures we have seen so far this summer, Phillips was always a risk and for a long time with how the speculation built a few weeks back it felt like it was only a matter of time before he left, so this is massive news given how important the 23-year-old is to Bielsa’s system.
There will be those who hoped all parties had already sat down and discussed his new deal, but as long as we get it over the line now, I’m sure everyone will be happy.
