Jesse Marsch has spoken directly after the Arsenal game and given his thought on the narrow 0-1 loss to the league leaders.

In an end-to-end match that was delayed 40 minutes due to a power cut, both sides look to assert themselves and the match was very even until Rodrigo Moreno played a wild cross-field pass that was picked up by the Gunners to break into the Leeds penalty box for Bukayo Saka to rifle his shot into the roof of the net. Leeds dominated the second-half but could not find a way to get back into the game. Patrick Bamford missed a penalty after a Gabriel handball and the Whites rallied late on but couldn’t find the leveller.

Leeds coach Jesse Marsch said, “A really good performance from us, discipline concentration for the over the entire match even with the late start and everything that was strange on the day, a performance that showed that when when we play the way that we want to play, we can be very good, very good, so that’s the best team in the league right now, and today we were better, we were better.”

“Was it frustrating that the differences perhaps the individual mistakes?”

“Yeah, I mean, you know, listen, we’re making it hard on ourselves, by not capitalizing on moments when when we’re on top of games. You know, we should be up in this match. Even second half, even, we could score four or five goals, and we would walk out of here feeling like was the perfect match, but that’s where we are right now, so I’m not discouraged, the goals will come and if we keep playing like that, and keep believing in what we’re trying to achieve here, tactically and mentality wise, we have big potential even in this season, so again, this is a long term project, but my goal is to get this going day by day step by step.”

“Looked as if the disruption right at the start of the match didn’t didn’t cause you too many problems, have you known anything like that before?”

“No, we even said right before the match, like none of us had been through this, but the key was for us to stay concentrated focus on exactly what what we wanted to achieve and I think we did that.”

“Patrick Bamford came on it may seem to make a big difference, for you, but it’s just a shame that his penalty didn’t go in and I imagine that did affect him a bit?”

“Yeah, I mean, we practice penalties every week. Patrick’s one of our best guys in training, you know, it was disappointing that he didn’t find a way to finish it, it would have changed the game I think, at 1-1, I think we could push it maybe you get the win. Yeah it’s a funny game sometimes, funny game sometimes.”

“Can you have any complaints with the way that the final penalty decision was overturned by VAR, did you see that?”

“I didn’t see all of it? I don’t know, I don’t know what happened.”

“Are the players hard to pick up after this because they seem to just give absolutely everything to you today?”

“Yeah they always do. It’s a, it’s a group that is fully invested and I’m very thankful for that. I’m proud to be their manager, proud of the performance and I believe in them. I’ve been saying that a lot lately, even though we haven’t gotten results, I believe in them.”
