Marcelo Bielsa’s recent decision has some Leeds chatting: ‘Realllly surprised by this’

|

Leeds United completed Deadline Day deals to bring Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah and FC Lorient goalkeeper Illan Meslier to Elland Road for the season on loan, but the Whites also said goodbye to some of our fringe players as the summer window slammed shut.

Rarely-seen United product Tom Pearce has departed for the DW Stadium by completing a move to Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee, while fellow academy man Clarke Odour has switched West Yorkshire for South Yorkshire and reunited with Aapo Halme and Malik Wilks at Barnsley.

Like the Latics, the Tykes have also paid an undisclosed fee for their new addition, who had only penned a new contract with United in February, amid a campaign under Carlos Corberan where he shone on route to the Professional Development League North Division title.

The left-back only made one senior appearance for Leeds before his move, though, with the 20-year-old handed his first-team debut in the FA Cup against Queens Park Rangers as a late substitute in January.

Marcelo Bielsa’s decision to now sanction Odour’s exit has caught some Whites supporters by surprise, with fans taking to Reddit to share their thoughts on the 20-year-old’s departure…
