Manchester City have given the green light for interested clubs to sign promising young midfielder James McAtee.

The 19 year old has been attracting interest from a host of clubs in England and Europe, including Leeds United. Manchester City have now said he may be available to go out on loan, gaining the attention of potential suitors. We have already seen that Leeds have a good relationship with City, having already taken Darko Gyabi in a £5m deal, with England International, Kalvin Phillips going the other way.

Manchester City had been reluctant to let products of their youth academy leave, and they see him as a future star as they did with players like Phil Foden, another talented player that came through the ranks at The Etihad. Sending players on loan has great benefits though, giving young players crucial first team involvement, and Leeds could be a great destination for the youngster.

Having appeared for the England youth teams at U18, U20 and U21’s level the attacking midfielder has been gaining interest from a host of clubs, and his outstanding displays in the Manchester City U23’s side have proven he has real talent and a bright future. He was an integral part of the U23’s side that won the league title last season.

Leeds coach Jesse Marsch could utilise McAtee in the central attacking midfield role having limited options in that position, and the possible link up with former team mate Gyabi in a youthful looking midfield would get the Leeds fans excited. Having players like McAtee even as options coming from the bench would be an improvement on last seasons squad when injuries depleted the side, and showed the need for having strength in depth.

What do Leeds fans think, would McAtee be a good signing? Let us know in the comments.
