Jack Clarke may have only made a handful of starts during his breakthrough season, but there are many around Elland Road who would prefer the 18-year-old remains on Leeds books when the transfer window slams shut.
There are a few, though, that would not be opposed to the club cashing in on our academy product if Tottenham Hotspur go through with their speculated interest, providing the Champions League Finalists meet our reported £20million asking price.
Spurs have so far appeared reluctant to meet that figure, however, as their best offer to date continues to be the £10million bid claimed in May, and suggestions earlier in June indicated the North London outfit had not returned with a serious approach.
But with the door ajar to his exit, fans have been preparing themselves in case Clarke does leave the Whites for the Premier League this summer. With one supporter raising the point on Twitter that he would struggle to have the same kind of impact on our push for promotion as reported targets Helder Costa or Harry Wilson.
When other members of the Elland Road faithful caught sight of this take, this is how these fans reacted…
Maybe but he had a patch of form early doors that I havent seen since Snoddy, and before that well I can’t remember. A couple of seasons and he’ll be setting the PL alight.

Where’s the Gamble, makes total sense to me.

Our better players -all aspects considered-have always been home grown ones, and that remains our best chance of ever getting back to where we were. In my opinion anyway.

I would be amazed if Spurs met our valuation. A few games in one season – seems a big punt to me. Personally I hope he stays and grows.

Totally agree, as much as I think Clarke has great potential, the other 2 players you mention would have a greater impact now IMO.

Didn’t look half the player when he came back from illness and everyone always had concerns over his ability to play 90 minutes

Completely agree Wilks looks over all round player and get spurs would buy for future but given poch record with playing kids I still struggle to see him being at level to get in that squad

It seems to me like we’re comforting ourselves that he wasn’t that good so we don’t feel so bad about losing another young treasure? Yet Somehow post-Boro he looked shot? So logically why are Spurs splashing 14 million plus?
