Well, they’ve got to pass the time somehow.
With the majority of the club’s news coming at unsociable hours for Leeds fans, given that the club is in Australia for their pre-season tour, fans look as if they have to make do with news from other clubs to keep themselves occupied.
That was certainly the case today, as former Leeds United right-back, Sam Byram completed a move to newly-promoted Norwich City for £750k.
Whilst the transfer didn’t involve them unless there’s a sell-on clause that we don’t yet know about, it still piqued the interest of the Elland Road faithful on social media.
There seemed to be two modes of thought amongst the Leeds United fans on Twitter when they heard the news. There were some who were incredibly surprised that West Ham were willing to let him go for such a low fee, and as a result, they should have gone after him.
Would have lumped 750k for Sam Byram in all honesty. Absolute peanuts for a good player #lufc

Say what you like but I would sooner have Luke Ayling in the Leeds team over Sam Byram any day of the week #lufc #mot

#Byram to Norwich for less than a mile makes me sad. #lufc

Some Leeds fans who think the club should have gone back in for Sam Byram well dont worry because we have Luke Ayling????#lufc #mot

I know we have Ayling but for £750k I’d have taken Byram back. Absolute snip. More effective right wing than Clark #lufc

Some might say that Leeds United had their chance, but there’s that saying about never going back in football, so maybe it was all for the best. However there was one person who found comedic value in the club he was signing for, given the amount of players who have played for both clubs, particularly in recent years.
So Sam Byram has signed for Norwich. They all end up there in the end don’t they?! #lufc
