Leeds United have seen two bids for centre back Ben White rejected by Brighton, a report from Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre (08/08, 16:07) has claimed.

White spent last season on loan at Elland Road from Brighton, and played a key role in Leeds’ title-winning campaign, playing every single minute of the Championship season.

Perhaps not surprisingly therefore, Leeds appear desperate to bring the defender back to the club for their assault on the Premier League next season, with this update only backing that up even further.

According to these latest reports, Leeds have had bids of £18.5million and £22million for White rejected by Brighton, although it is also thought that the defender has rejected two new contract offers at The AMEX Stadium.

As things stand, there are two years remaining on White’s current deal with Brighton, securing his future at the club until the end of the 2021/22 season.

White’s outstanding performances last season also appeared to have attracted plenty of attention from elsewhere, with the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool all credited with an interest in the  22-year-old.

Here we go then.

You feel like news of a Leeds bid for White is something the club’s fans have been waiting for ever since the end of the season, and the fact they have opened with bids of this size shows just how much they want him.

With so long left in the transfer window, it would be a surprise if there is not more to come from Elland Road here, and the fact that White has turned down the chance of a new deal with Brighton is encouraging, although you have to hope that is not with a view to joining one of those other supposedly interested clubs.
