With a mixed pre-season for Leeds United fans when it came to some performances in games and results, not least the transfer saga’s we’ve seen before we seemed to more get our backsides in gear this last week with Patrick Bamford coming through the doors – today at least gave some respite from that.
Opening the 2018/19 Championship campaign up at Elland Road as we hosted Stoke City, goals from Mats Klich, Pablo Hernandez and Liam Cooper gave us a 3-1 victory as manager Marcelo Bielsa picked his first three points of the season up.
Spaniard Samu Saiz certainly impressed fans with his showing in the game, and he wasn’t alone in putting in a top class performance either, but plenty are praying that his showing becomes his normal standard for the remainder of the season now.
I’m sure it was meant more tongue in cheek rather than as a genuine comparison, but one fan was so happy he compared him to Lionel Messi.
It’s the way to start a new campaign though!
