Luton: -30, Rotherham -17, FL? Nil Points

It seems that the Football League can`t make up their mind. Last season we get -15, this year Luton -30, Rotherham -17!

Luton, and their agent-related irregularities aside, it seems that Rotherham have been unfairly punished in a random way that sees the supposed ‘just` deduction of Leeds United`s 15 points last season, be, in my opinion, branded farcical.

Rotherham`s financial plight is well known, yet their failure to start the season without a CVA (Creditor Voluntary Agreement) in place, sees them start the season with a 17-point dedication, compared to the 15-point penalty imposed on Leeds.

Rotherham will also be ‘forced` to return to the town following their temporary move to Sheffield, within 4 years. One wonders how the FA define a town, given that Everton are set for a move well outside of the Liverpool city limits!

It was hoped, even after our High Court wrangling and ramblings, that some sort of standardisation would be sought regarding clubs in financial trouble. Yet Leeds may now be painted as the ‘lucky ones` as both Luton and Rotherham start the season knowing full well that each result may take them one step closer, or further away, from survival.

SORT IT OUT FA.
