Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says the club will be going all out for a win against Southampton this evening and move Leeds a step closer to a trip to Wembley.

A win over Southampton would leave Leeds just two ties away from Wembley.

Leeds are looking to reach the quarter-finals of a major domestic competition for the first time since reaching the FA Cup quarter finals in 2003 when they lost to Neil Warnock`s Sheffield United side.

The Leeds boss enjoyed some successful cup runs during his time at Sheffield United. He made both the semi-finals of the FA and League Cup in the 2002/03 season, losing narrowly to both Sheffield United and Liverpool respectively.

Warnock has said repeatedly this season that he has promised to try and win the cup for his daughter Amy and he doesn`t see any reason why the club cannot go all the way.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Warnock said, “We`d like to go as far as we can and it`s common knowledge that I told my daughter we`d try and win the competition if we could. There`s always a Championship club who aren`t far away so why can`t it be us?

“It`s at Elland Road and we`ll give it a big crack. I once had a go at winning both cups at Sheffield United and I wasn`t far away. We got to the semis but we were unlucky with the draws – and with the referees.”

A win tonight would see Leeds book their place in the quarter-finals for the first time since the 1995/96 season.

On that occasion under Howard Wilkinson, they went all the way to the final, before a disappointing performance in a 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa.
