Leeds United boss Neil Warnock thought his side were away with Rodolph Austin in Jamaica after a lacklustre first half at Hillsborough.
Austin only returned to the Leeds squad on the eve of the game after being away in Jamaica on international duty and Warnock said he thought the side were away with him after the performance in the first half hour.
Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, “I thought we played much better in the second half. I think Rudi (Rodolph Austin) was still in Jamaica. I thought we were all in Jamaica for the first half hour.”
Leeds went in at half time 1-0 down after Jay Bothroyd headed the home side ahead in the closing minutes of the half.
It could have been worse. Michail Antonio missed a great chance with his header when unmarked, Jay Bothroyd saw his long-range effort hit the bar after Leeds goalkeeper Paddy Kenny fumbled his effort and the referee somehow missed a clear penalty when Lucian Becchio dived full stretch to knock the ball away with his hand.
David Norris replaced the out of sorts Austin at half time for Leeds and the side looked more creative.
Leeds equalised with just thirteen minutes remaining when Michael Tonge started and finished, what was a fabulous team goal. “He actually started the move off on the edge of our box and then he finishes it off.
“There were fourteen passes, it was a fabulous goal,” added Warnock.
Tonge looked Leeds biggest threat in front of goal having tested Chris Kirkland in the first half with a free kick. He also saw another free kick go just over the bar in the second half.
