Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says Paul Green is closing in on a return but he will not be back before the international break.
Green hasn`t featured for Leeds since suffering a knee injury on the opening day of the season against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Warnock says the Republic of Ireland international midfielder is back in training but he will not be back before the international break this weekend.
Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, “He will not be back before the international break. He has started straight forward running, so that is a big plus for us.”
The Leeds boss was boosted at the weekend by the return to the squad of midfielder David Norris, who was also expected to be out until the international break.
Norris hasn`t started for Leeds since the game with Blackburn Rovers at the start of September due to a thigh injury but he was named amongst the substitutes at Bristol City.
The game also saw the return of Paddy Kenny and Lee Peltier after the pair missed the midweek win over Everton.
Ross McCormack, Leigh Bromby, Davide Somma and Ramon Nunez are all still on the sidelines with long-term injuries.
Somma is closing in on a return after almost eighteen months on the sidelines and McCormack is hoping to be back sometime before Christmas after undergoing surgery on his ankle recently.
Bromby and Nunez look set to miss the remainder of the season with their respective injuries.
