The first Vital Leeds yearly awards have been voted on by our members and the winners are as follows,

Young player of 2008 – Fabian Delph

19 year old Delph has been a revelation since breaking into the side on a regular basis in August and already has a host of Premiership sides chasing him, he took the award with 77% of the votes; Johnny Howson was second with 23%.

Player of 2008 – Jermaine Beckford

Beckford won a very tight vote with 37.5% of the votes, Beckford finished last season with a total of 20 goals and already has 19 this season even though he`s missed five weeks through injury, Fabian Delph was second with 25%.

Young player to watch out for in 2009 – Liam Darville

England under 18 international defender Darville won this with 100% of the vote.

Best game of 2008 – Leeds United 4-0 Crystal Palace Carling Cup 2nd round

The victory over Championship side Crystal Palace took 55% of the votes; the 5-2 victory over Crewe in September was in second with 22%.

Worst game of 2008 – Histon Town 1-0 Leeds United FA Cup 2nd Round

With two games being high profile this year the defeat at Histon took the award with 62.5% and the play off final loss against Doncaster coming second with 37.5%.

Best Signing of 2008 – Luciano Becchio

Argentinean Luciano Becchio joined in August for Spanish side Mareida and became an instant hero with the Leeds fans for his hard working displays and an eye for goal. Becchio took 83% of the votes with Robert Snodgrass in second with 17%.

Worst signing – Enoch Showunmi

Forward Showunmi joined in the summer from Bristol City and although he`s got a good strike rate for Leeds in the games he`s played he`s failed to win over the majority of vital Leeds fans taking 40% of the vote, Paul Telfer and Lubomir Michalik were joint second with 20%.
