Leeds United have parted company with head coach Thomas Christiansen.

Christiansen has left the club after a run of seven games without a win in a run that has also seen them knocked out of the FA Cup at League Two side Newport County.

He arrived at Leeds in the summer from Cypriot side APOEL and he enjoyed a fantastic start at Elland Road as they went unbeaten in their first seven games to lead the Championship in September.

A poor run in the autumn saw them slide down the table but another good run of form in November and December saw them climb back into the play-off places.

A 4-1 home defeat to Cardiff City on Saturday leaves Leeds in tenth place, seven points off the play-offs and the club have decided to act now.
