Leeds United defender Patrick Kisnorbo was quick to praise the fans after making his return to first team football last weekend.

Kisnorbo made his return as a late substitute in Leeds final game of the season at Queens Park Rangers after fourteen months on the sidelines with an Achilles injury.

The Australian international was glad to be back and said the fans have played their part in helping him overcome the injury.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Kisnorbo said, “The supporters have been great. Ever since I`ve been injured, they have wrote in and cared and played their part.
“This is probably the best fanbase I`ve ever played under. They are fantastic and giving them something back is nothing because they give so much to the team and the players.”

Kisnorbo is now out of contract and manager Simon Grayson has told the popular defender that he can earn himself a new deal if he impresses during pre season.

The 30 year old is hoping to do enough to earn himself a new contract, “I`ve settled down well (here). There a great fanbase, and great people to work with and players. I`d like to stay and the club have made me welcome,” he continued.

His injury in March last year against Millwall forced him to miss the run in to Leeds promotion from League One. Despite missing the run in, he still picked up the clubs Player of the Year award at the end of the season.
