Leeds United head coach was pleased with the performance after seeing his side win 3-1 at Queens Park Rangers.

A second half hat-trick from Kemar Roofe ensured the points returned to Yorkshire and Christiansen says the win owed much to a much-improved defensive performance as they continued their return to form in recent weeks.

‘In the first half we were not good but in the second we were better and it was important to score the first goal,” Christiansen told the BBC.

‘The whole defensive line was much better. We’ve had five games now where we have defended better and believe we’re stronger.

‘They came under pressure and we defended well, because it was difficult with QPR’s direct play with Matt Smith up front. It was a tough test for the defence.

‘We have had five very good performances and I’m very pleased with the team, the performance and of course the result.’

Roofe gave Leeds the lead just past the hour when he headed home and he gave them some breathing space five minutes later as he fired home from another tantalising cross into the middle.

Despite a late goal from Rangers to set up a nail-biting finish, Leeds broke and Roofe fired home his third of the game to complete his second hat-trick of the season.

The win lifts Leeds back up to seventh in the Championship table, four points off a play-off place.
